Growth Through Franchising

In 2010, enormous customer demand inspired the decision to expand into communities nationwide through franchising, an ideal grass-roots growth model for this community-centric concept. The brand name was changed to WT Café in order to appeal to kids of all ages, and an experienced franchise team was recruited to take the concept to the next level.

Since then, WT Café’s have opened all over the country, and the brand is growing rapidly. The company’s goal is to be the undisputed market leader and a household name for the best tasting, freshest food for kids and families. It is through relationships with our dedicated franchise owners and our vendor partners that we are together building a brand that is impacting the health of future generations..

Founded On Passion

In 2007, Wholesome Tummies was founded by two mom-preneurs frustrated by the lack of fresh, minimally processed foods for their children. Driven to change the quality of convenient food for kids, they decided to build a business to solve their problem. With 50% of a child’s calories coming from food at school, the two women focused there. At that time, most schools in their hometown of Orlando, FL served fast food lunches five days a week. Parents ordered high-sodium, high-fat lunches on paper order forms. Schools collected checks, created menus, and administered the program.

The co-founders built a custom software solution to eliminate the administrative burden for the school and increase the ordering convenience for parents. Early on, they focused on their customers’ need for convenience, creating a Rush Lunch feature that enables parents to order or cancel meals by 8 a.m. same day. They hired a chef and a dietitian, and developed a library of healthy, exciting recipes for kids. Within two years, the business was serving 25 local schools and the market was buzzing with opportunity.
